By now, I think almost everyone has heard of the skincare brand "The Ordinary", whether it be for their ever evolving affordable collection of treatments or their exceptionally humble, yet sleek packaging. Needless to say, this brand is only one of many under their expansive parent company- Deciem.
I must admit, I was intrigued by The Ordinary's claim to "communicate with integrity and bring to market effective, more familiar technologies at honourable prices." FOR YEARS, the industry has taken advantage of the consumer's wallet by skyrocketing prices of "commonplace technologies" and parading inflated claims, preying on the insecurities of many and the overall desire to achieve the unattainable as they falsely promise to reverse the clock and restore youth. Now they are forced to amend such claims, as the consumer grows wiser, thanks to information being so readily accessible. Yet brands still boast advancements that retail for an arm and a leg, when in reality, they are disguising commodity technologies as groundbreaking, new discoveries.
Because The Ordinary has taken the initiative to do away with all the B.S. and simply offer the consumer the active ingredients they were searching for, without all the fluff and fillers, I find that to be quite commendable. I am also impressed with the wealth of information that can be found on their website; The Ordinary clearly communicates the purpose of each product, how and when to use it, what can be used in tandem with it, what to avoid, and there are various guides to educate and assist the consumer while shopping.
Now with that being said, I wanted to put some of their products to the test because while all that The Ordinary is doing to make commodity skincare technologies more accessible and affordable is fantastic, what good is any of it if the products do not live up to the "hype"?
For my review and a detailed breakdown of each product I purchased (i.e. me explaining what each ingredient is/does with closeups of product applied to the skin, to show consistency), be sure to check out my video linked below!
