Since I sort of slacked on making fun Thanksgiving pupproved treats, I figured I ought to come up with a cute & mega yummy recipe that would be the perfect Christmas treat/appetiser for your fur baby; so they don't try stealing a piece of ham off your plate tomorrow!
This fur-baby-safe quiche recipe is simple & easy to make, and even better, is the fact that you can easily swap out filling ingredients to cater to any allergies or to utilise what's currently in your pantry. For exact instructions and to see what I used for this recipe, just keep on scrolling! :)
INGREDIENTS LIST
For the Crust
- 1.5 cups Plain Oats
- 1 Egg
- less than 1/3 cup Water
For the Filling
- 5 Eggs (chicken, but you can use duck eggs instead)
- Cooked Ground Turkey
- Dehydrated Pork Tongue
- Radish (sliced thinnly)
- Plain Goat Cheese
- Parsley (for garnish)
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Preheat your oven to 375 ºF
2. Add your dry oats to a food processor or blender & pulse until it resembles oat flour.
3. To your oat flour, add an egg & water and mix the ingredients together to form a "dough." Be careful not to add too much water because you want this mixture to be dry & malleable enough to form a crust for your quiche!
If it ends up too soupy, add a little more oat flour until the consistency is perfect.
4. Once your dough is ready, layer enough to spread across the bottom of your dish. If you're using a dish with crimped edges, like mine, make sure to bring the dough up along the sides. Make sure it is laid down as evenly and as flat as possible because this will be your crust.
5. Place your dish, that is now lined with your quiche crust, in the oven for about 20mins (depending on the size, you may need more or less time).
6. While your crust is baking in the oven, go ahead & beat your eggs in a separate bowl.
7. You can throw all of your filling ingredients into a bowl & mix them in with the eggs, then pour them into each dish once your crust is ready. I placed the cooked turkey first, then poured the eggs over and topped it off with some goat cheese, radish slices & pork tongue.
8. Place quiche in the oven for an additional 30mins (may need more or less time depending on size & quantity).
9. After taking them out of the oven, let the quiches sit & cool completely before serving to your fur baby! Garnish with a bit of parsley (optional).
For the humans, add a of bit salt & pepper (& any other seasonings you like) and this can be a treat everyone can enjoy!
If you re-create this recipe, whether or not you tweak it a bit, share a photo or video and tag me @nolorlin ; I'd love to see your recreations and how much your babies enjoy it!
Happy snacking!
Merry Christmas
xoxo
